Upgrading to Video Framework

If you have been using the previous Video Driver, the driverUpgrade feature introduced with Workbench 2.6 can help you quickly upgrade each station in your network to Video Framework. This is especially useful if you have multiple devices from different manufacturers. The upgrade wizard upgrades all driver modules.

  1. In Workbench, click Tools>Driver Upgrade Tool.

    • Host is the IP address of the JACE you are upgrading.
    • Platform Connection and Station Connection require credentials and the correct Port.
  2. Click Next, verify that the connections are successful, and click Next to follow the wizard.

You can the icon controls in the wizard window to specify a directory location for the backup station file. The wizard reads the current station out of the JACE and scans the .bog file. If the wizard determines that a driver can be upgraded, it changes the .bog file and downloads any dependent modules.

This step will take a few minutes. When it is finished, the wizard displays a list of the upgraded modules. Finally, it reboots the JACE and starts the updated station.

NOTE: The general Video Framework drivers start with “n.” The wizard does not delete the previous general video driver modules that start with “dev.” They remain, and do not interfere with the functioning of Video Framework modules.

  3. To conserve space in the JACE, you can delete the old “dev” modules. The modules to delete are:
    • devDriver.jar
    • devHttpDriver.jar
    • devIpDriver.jar
    • devVideoDriver.jar
    • In addition, delete the driver modules for the Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) equipment associated with the purchased driver. For example, dedicatedMicros.jar is the old driver module used for Dedicated Micros equipment.
