The Modbus Client Point Manager is the default view of the Points extension under any client Modbus device (ModbusAsyncDevice, ModbusTcpDevice, ModbusTcpGatewayDevice), as shown in Figure 32.
This view is also the default for any “points folder” created with the button, and operates like most point manager views for NiagaraAX drivers—see the section “About the Point Manager” in the Drivers Guide for general details. Note that due to the simplicity of the Modbus protocol, there is no “Discover, Add, and Match” (Learn process). Instead you make proxy points using the button, after studying the vendor’s documentation for Modbus data in each Modbus device. See Modbus client proxy points for more details.
By default, only a few of the available columns in the Modbus Client Point Manager are enabled for display, notably “Name,” “Out” and “Absolute Address.” However, you may wish to change this by clicking on the Table Options menu in the table’s upper right, as shown in Figure 31.
For example, during the configuration process you may wish to see “Fault Cause” and “Data Source.”
