Bacnet Device Manager discover notes

You can rerun a device discover as many times as needed. If your BACnet network is very large, you may wish to add multiple BacnetDeviceFolders (using New Folder button), and run a series of differently configured device discovers (Figure 15) from each one, using the Bacnet Device Manager view available with each folder.

Devices discovered in fault (orange)

Sometimes discovered BACnet devices appear highlighted orange, indicating a fault.

Discovered devices in fault because of duplicate Device IDs

As shown in Figure 16, often this from duplicate Device IDs (same Object_ID in the Device object of multiple devices). This is illegal in BACnet; each device must have a unique Object_ID for its Device object.

You can still add such devices to the station, however, typically all but one will have a “-1” (unassigned) Device ID, and be unreachable. Devices must be locally re-configured to have unique Device IDs. Then in the station, each BacnetDevice’s corresponding (Config) Device Object must have its “Object Id” property set to match accordingly. Or, delete the devices, re-discover, and add again.

NoteStarting in AX-3.5, a “Device ID” function was added in the Bacnet Device Manager that may provide a simple “one-step” solution, providing that affected BACnet devices allow Device ID change. For more details see Device ID function.
